Florida 2024 – Day 5

After having breakfast at home we left at 9.30a.m to go to Boggy. Creek Airboat Adventures in Kissimmee.

We arrived in plenty of time to have a walk in the butterfly garden which featured 15 different species of butterfly.

We boarded the Boggy Creek Airboat and sped out onto the lake which is five miles by eleven miles in size, some 35,000 acres . We were lucky enough to see a huge alligator which was basking in the shade of a big tree. The trees in this area are covered in Spanish moss (a plant which can grow on trees in tropical and sub tropical climates) Fun Fact Henry Ford use to stuff his car seats with it until they found little critters in it, he then changed to using horse hair!!!!! We also managed to see a bald headed eagle and lots of different herons ,and turtles on the lakes, along with different coloured water lilies and lake grasses .

We returned to the villas for lunch and then went to Disney Springs.

We had a look in a few shops at all the Disney goods before going onto ten pin bowling at Springsville a massive bowling complex. The children were gifted drinks bottles in the shape of bowling pins. After a couple of games of bowling we went for dinner.

We ate at the famous CHEF ART SMITH’S HOMECOMIN’ FLORIDA KITCHEN. SOUTHERN SHINE. The menu was extremely extensive and had a lot of variety on it. From deep fried chicken, mash potatoes, burgers and salads but the firm favourite was deep fried chicken served with mash or fries and RING DOUGHNUTS 🍩!!!!! This was enjoyed by the majority of the group ,they were fully sated afterwards as the portion sizes are huge. However, that didn’t stop everyone from ordering and demolishing puddings which were the size of dinner plates!!!! After the vast quantities of food that had been consumed a few self induced food comas were experienced so it was back the to villas for an early night ready to be refreshed to be up bright and early for tomorrow’s adventures.
