Computers for School

Holy Trinity Primary School in West End is just one of the local schools to benefit from a £1500 donation towards computers in special needs' departments. Chobham St. Lawrence received £900, Frimley Park Middle School received £600.

Sue Gerrish, Special Needs Co-ordinator at Holy Trinity School, said that the system was not yet up and running but that they were planning to use the donation for literacy support - software relating to spelling and composing, composition and story writing has been identified

The 41 special needs pupils in years one to five will benefit twice weekly. An additional purchase of a monitor and keyboard would enable the same programme to be used simultaneously by children working in pairs. 'This extra £300 worth of equipment would spare us the cost of an extra computer and help the children learn the benefits of collaboration and co-operation," Mrs. Gerrish said.

"This equipment and the CD programmes will help focus very specifically on the areas where help is most needed," she said.
