Summer Play Scheme

The Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Ken Pedder, joined Tom O'Connor and John Silvester, Director of Community Services and Planning, at the Mytchett Community Centre to enjoy a morning at the summer holiday play scheme organised by Derek Trueman of Surrey Heath Borough Council.

The charity has donated over £4,000 in the last four years to enable children with special needs to attend the play scheme and not miss out on any fun.

It is so important for children with special needs to have the opportunity to enjoy the same facilities as able bodied children and this play scheme does just that.

Past Events - Family Support 10The charity was delighted to buy a special buggy for Freddie, this is an extract from a letter received from Freddie's mother.

"When you have a child with special needs a lot of the every day equipment is treble the price. We wanted a neat folding pushchair for Freddie so that it would fit in any car, restaurant or shop and allow Freddie the opportunity to enjoy life like every other child.

Past Events - Family Support 11We contacted the charity, Children with Special Needs, to enquire if they could help us purchase a special buggy, which was out of our price range. The charity responded immediately with the new buggy which gives Freddie better support. As a mother with twins anything that makes life easier is greatly appreciated. We are most grateful for the help of the charity."
